Description

Tom Mackie – Angry Aurora, Iceland 1000 Piece Puzzle

‘Wonders of the World’ – The World’s most Beautiful Jigsaw Puzzle

ANGRY AURORA, ICELAND

Auroras of northern lights generally occur in higher latitudes where there is a large amount of solar wind activity.  Only at the highest altitudes with intense solar activity does the colour red show up with green at the lower altitudes being more common.

I was leading a workshop in Iceland when an intense aurora occurred in the village where we were staying.  The shapes were changing by the minute as each capture created a completely different image.  As I looked at the display, I couldn’t believe the face-like image staring back at me.  It would be easy to assume this is Photoshopped, but it is Mother Nature at her best.

Tom Mackie

Tom Mackie is recognised as one of the world’s finest landscape photographers.  He has published several inspirational books and is a regular contributor to photographic magazines.  This series of amazing pictures represents some of the wonders of the world as seen through the eyes of this acclaimed photographer.
