Tom Mackie – Stonehenge, Wiltshire, England 1000 Piece Puzzle
‘Wonders of the World’ – The World’s most Beautiful Jigsaw Puzzle
STONEHENGE, WILTSHIRE, ENGLAND
Stonehenge is one of the most iconic locations in Britain and archaeologists date the construction from 2000 BC to 3000 BC. A majority of the ‘bluestones’ weighing between 2 and 4 tons each were brought from the Preseli Hills in Wales some 150 miles away. How a prehistoric civilisation transported the stones is still a mystery. The site was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1986.
I have photographed Stonehenge over the years, but this image was my first and my favourite as it captures the late afternoon light against the brooding dark skies of the Salisbury Plain.
