Yosemite National Park is one of the oldest nature preserves in the United States.  The mountains in the park are still growing at a rate of 1 foot every 1000 years and are home to both the tallest waterfall in North America, and the largest granite monolith (single massive rock) in the world, El Capitan.  Yosemite is also home to 500 giant sequoias, which can live up to 3000 years.  Yosemite National Park covers nearly 1200 square miles of land and has over 800 miles of trails to hike!
