Description

Titanic 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

Titanic was built at the Harland and Wolff Shipyard in Belfast, Ireland and designed to be the largest, most luxurious ships ever to sail.  The Titanic’s design and construction featured luxury and opulence.  There was a telephone system, a lending library and a large barber shop on the Ship.  The first-class section had a swimming pool, a gymnasium, squash court, Turkish Bath, electric bath and a Veranda Café.  First-class common rooms were adorned with ornate wood panelling, expensive furniture and other decorations while even the third class general room had pine panelling and sturdy teak furniture.

White Star Financier J P Morgan and Milton S Hershey made plans to sail aboard the ship’s maiden voyage but cancelled at the last minute.

The Titanic was never christened.  It was not the practice of the White Star Line to hold such ceremonies.

It took 3,000 men two years to build the Titanic.  Three million rivets held its massive hull together.

There were two priests on board, and masses were said in English, Irish, French, German and Hungarian.

The White Star Line decided that only 16 wooden lifeboats and four folding lifeboats were needed.  Actually the White Star Line could have reduced the legal requirements to a capacity of 756 persons only.  They provided much more lifeboat accommodation than was legally required at the time.
