Mans Best Friend 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle
For hundreds of years there has been a special bond between man and his dog. They are not only companions and friends, but have been saviours and servants alike. There are many breeds split into six groups, five of which are represented here in this stunning jigsaw puzzle by John Francis.
Gundog Group includes the Golden Retriever, the Labrador Retriever, and the Welsh Springer Spaniel. This group, as the name implies are used to retrieve game at a shoot, while the Labrador was also used to bring back fishing nets to shore. Usually very gentle and loving, these are very popular as pets, with both retrievers being used as Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Terrier Group includes the Norfolk Terrier, the West Highland White terrier and the Parson Russell terrier (not to be confused with the Jack Russell which is shorter). These bouncy little dogs have great characters and are always full of fun. they have long been used as effective pest controllers.
Toy Group includes the lovable and elegant Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. An active, graceful dog, very sporting in character.
Utility Group includes the Dalmation. Used as coach dogs they are now mainly pets but are strong and muscular with a good temperament, capable of great endurance and with a fair amount of speed.
Working Group includes the Border Collie, the Doberman, the German Shepherd (Alsation) and the Welsh Corgi. As the group name suggests they are all working dogs and have very varied jobs. The Border Collie is probably one of the worlds finest sheepdogs. The Doberman long used as a watchdog and security guard. The German Shepherd is used extensively in the Services and the Police Force and also as Guide Dog for the Blind. The Welsh Corgi, long a favourite of Her Majesty the Queen was originally used as a cattle driving dog.
From this it can be seen that they really are “Mans Best Friend”

JHG Jigsaws Ltd is one of the UK’s few remaining jigsaw puzzle manufactures. Based at our converted farm premises in the beautiful countryside of Dorset, we now manufacture a wide range of jigsaw puzzles. “
Made in England” on the boxes means just that, and we use materials that are as eco friendly as we can find. Our puzzle board is made from recycled card as are our puzzle boxes.
The paper for the print is FSC certified and our Glue is starch based, made especially for us. Where possible we try to “Buy British” for the other components of our puzzles. This, we hope, all helps to reduce our carbon footprint.

From the beautiful luxury JHG Jigsaws, Nature and Wildlife Artwork puzzles, through Classic Deluxe traditional, JR budget and on to Children’s, we have something to suit all tastes and hopefully all pockets.
We started out with our JHG Jigsaws Nature and Wildlife range in 1997, adding more from James Hamilton when the owner retired in 2001. In December 2008 we took on manufacturing and added the Classic Deluxe and JR names, both well established in the jigsaw arena.
