KEN DUNCAN – OLD WILPENA STATION, SA 748 PIECE JIGSAW PUZZLE
THE WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL JIGSAW PUZZLES – IMAGES OF AUSTRALIA
The Flinders Ranges is a region that continues to grow on me. It changes all the time, according to the season and the weather. With every visit, I find myself further unfolding the layers of its languid landscapes and becoming more in tune with the spirit of the place. On this trip, I was blessed to find wildflowers prolifically carpeting many parts of the Flinders, including Old Wilpena Station. This is one of the most scenically beautiful pastoral settlements in South Australia. It was a working station for 135 years, before slipping into retirement in 1985. The settlement is now a tranquil archive of pastoral history, as well as an important Aboriginal heritage site. The buildings scattered amongst these fields have stories to tell of intrigue and adventure in a bygone era. I called this image bejeweled because the flowers look like jewels scattered across this classic Australian landscape.
The high quality range of Jigsaw Puzzles presents the classic beauty of the Australian Landscapes seen through the lens of Australian born Photographer Ken Duncan – capturing the rich ochre reds of the outback, the turquoise blue of the sea and shadowed greens of the rainforest. Ken is one of the world’s leading exponents of panoramic landscape photography and spends much of his life travelling to remote and exotic locations.
Ken says “To really know a region you have to spend time absorbing its mood until you begin to relate to its mysterious and ancient rhythms. I often have to return to a location again and again until I’ve captured the true spirit of the place. In that time spent waiting for the right moment, I have the opportunity to truly connect with the land. It’s amazing what you can learn about a place by just sitting in silence there.”
