Ken Duncan – Outback Splendour, Finke River, NT 2000 Piece Puzzle
IMAGES OF AUSTRALIA – The World’s Most Beautiful Jigsaw Puzzles
Ken Duncan : This scene – typical of the country that inspired Albert Namatjira – was shot near Glen Helen in West MacDonnell National Park. It was one of those rare occasions when the Finke River was flowing here. But I almost missed this shot. Believe it or not, I had already packed up for the day and had gone back to Glen Helen Resort to relax, because I thought the best of the light was over. I should have known better. Suddenly, at the resort, I saw the sky beginning to colour beautifully. So I raced back to the location and arrived just in time to shoot this spectacular view. It just goes to show how close the line between success and failure can be when trying to capture a unique moment of light.
The high quality range of Jigsaw Puzzles presents the classic beauty of the Australian Landscapes seen through the lens of Australian born Photographer Ken Duncan – capturing the rich ochre reds of the outback, the turquoise blue of the sea and shadowed greens of the rainforest. Ken is one of the world’s leading exponents of panoramic landscape photography and spends much of his life travelling to remote and exotic locations.
Ken says “To really know a region you have to spend time absorbing its mood until you begin to relate to its mysterious and ancient rhythms. I often have to return to a location again and again until I’ve captured the true spirit of the place. In that time spent waiting for the right moment, I have the opportunity to truly connect with the land. It’s amazing what you can learn about a place by just sitting in silence there.”
