With a love of the 50’s and 60’s American settings, artist Hiroaki Shioya’s attention to detail brings to life this vibrant and colourful collection with Interiors 2 Brown Sugar being one of the puzzles from the 4 in the Collection.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Hiroaki Shioya was born in Shizuoka Japan in 1953.
He graduated from the Japan Design School with a focus in Business Design in 1974. After graduation, he gained work at an advertisement agency, and in 1980 started working as a freelance artist.
Shioya has created art for calendars, packaging, and jigsaw puzzles. Also for Tokyo Disney, he designed a “Grand Opening” poster, commemorating the 5th anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland.
Shioya has always been fascinated with American cars from the 50’s and 60’s . Also everyday objects and views of the countryside have been fascinating to Hiroaki. These things that possess a gentle nature must be loved to stimulate his creativity. He believes they represent the human spirit.
Another reason why Shioya is fascinated with the American countryside is due to some of the movies and TV shows that he watched as a child. They remain always so different from Japanese movies, and it made a strong impression on him.
ABOUT HOLDSON: Holdson are very passionate about their business and have been for the last 75 Years. They are based in Auckland and they manufacture, import and distribute products for the Jigsaw Puzzle Industry through out New Zealand and the rest of the world.
Holdson’s Managing and Production Directors are both third generation in the Holdsworth Family. This gives the company a very family orientated foundation which they take very seriously and pride themselves with their careful attention to everything that they undertake.
New Zealand made Holdson Jigsaws uses specially formulated 100% recycled puzzle board made with non toxic inks which have passed through rigid safety standards. The Jigsaws are printed on high quality gloss art paper which is free of all toxic substances.
